Program notes

The concerto is not following the traditional form, it uses several condensed excerpts from the well of traditional instrumental concerto practice instead.

The focal point is the note D - serving as the basis for the enchained lines of intervals. These lines follow the development of music motives, melodies and harmonies, thus setting the epicenter for several tonal gravitation fields

The intervals are emerging as concentric circles, initiating chromatic glissando sketches /D-C sharp-C-B-B flat... or  D-E flat.../ and reaffirming diatonic scale toward the end. Basic folk patterns can be heard through interval metamorphosis or association… The soloist uses the whole arsenal of flutes to respond, comment, ornament and develop musical ideas with a varied palette of sounds
